It’s about choosing the right ones to tell a complete story. A good story in an archive has layers. It might include a few photos, a short video clip, or a voice recording. Different formats bring out different sides of the story.  Your free 1 GB gives you room to do this. A 2018 survey from Wikipedia across 12 different language versions found that 90% of the respondents reported their gender as male with just 8.8% identifying as female and 1% as other. In addition, a 2021 study found that although biographies of women only make up 17% of those on Wikipedia, 41% of the biographies nominated for deletion were about women. This gender bias affects the creation and content of the pages on Wikipedia, with some non-male participants feeling like there is a barrier to participating due to factors such as gatekeeping, harassment, and frequent ...

Over the three months that we surveyed our members and partners about the legacy planning prototype, we received feedback from 40 people. Here are five takeaways we learned from our members about legacy planning and how we’re using that feedback to inform the ...

We are on step three of our journey to get our family collections organized, digitized, and accessible to our friends and family. Step number one was to organize and arrange our documents to best reflect the collection and those using it. Step number two was describing the collections to get them ready for upload to Permanent.org. Some materials might be worthy to keep, but not something everyone will want to ...
