This is a bit of a diversion from our usual Project Recipe events that focus on completed projects. There’s a special reason.\nKathy’s recently published “Memoirs,” honors the women who helped her stitch her life back together after tragic loss. This deeply personal book pulls a narrative thread from Kathy’s personal story to share insight about tending grief and reclaiming joy. With decades of experience as a journalist to inform her process, Kathy is a pro.\nAs you’ll read in “Memoirs of a Mask Maker,” Kathy developed an extraordinary bond with her “Grama Helen” as she grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their connection gave Kathy the strength to explore new worlds, crave adventure, and ultimately inspire others.\nIn this Project Recipe event, we get to hear from Kathy shortly after her return from a trip to India retracing her grandmother’s journey there 100 years ago. Helen had been posted to Madras, India as a teacher from 1923 to 1926. The trail starts with an invaluable collection of letters Kathy discovered in her family archives in Minnesota. These were the letters she’d exchanged with her future husband and parents about daily life, and her observations and insights. Kathy is combing through the timelines, characters, and artifacts to find the hook for this next book.\nRecording, recipe & resources free to Projectkin members\nAt the conclusion, all Projectkin members will get a link to the Project Recipe (with allowances for this variation), any shared links and resources, and the recording.\nThis program will be held online via Google Meet.\nGoogle Meet runs in your browser, so there’s nothing to download. Recordings are generally available 2-4 hours after each event and include a searchable transcript. The recording will be shared with all Projectkin members.\nYou can subscribe now to explore the community and watch recordings of past programs. A Members’ Chat Room in the Projectkin Forum is always available for extended conversations among members and includes our speaker.\nFor details see www.eventbrite.com/e/project-recipe-weaving-a-grandmothers-letters-into-a-story-tickets-788622640547?aff=oddtdtcreator\n URL:https://www.permanent.org/events/weaving-a-grandmothers-letters-into-a-story/ END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
